I don’t have time to exercise. Is a short Pilates class effective?

Yes. Even fitting in twenty minutes of Pilates twice a week can make a difference. Hip pain? Do exercises for ten minutes twice a day and it’ll be significantly better quite quickly.

Is Pilates for weight loss?

No. You will lose inches but, to lose pounds, you need to complement Pilates with cardio and strength training, eat healthy, drink lots of water, keep your immune system healthy, and lower your stress.

Isn’t Pilates really expensive?

One group Pilates class a week is $20, which averages out to fewer than $3 a day. Would you rather spend money on Pilates to prevent an injury or thousands of dollars on specialist treatment to heal an injury you could have avoided in the first place?

I’m not flexible. Can I still do Pilates?

Have you seen me? I’m the world’s most inflexible person. If I can do an intermediate Pilates class, you can at least try a beginner class.

Can I do Pilates if I’m pregnant?

You sure can! I’ve helped five women when they were pregnant and they all had safe easy deliveries and their babies are happy and healthy. They also credit Pilates with making their recovery faster and much more manageable.

Is Pilates like yoga?

They complement each other but are not the same thing and are not interchangeable.

Is Pilates for men?

Yes! Pilates was created by a man called Joseph Pilates.
